Dr Richard Ghetzler, PhD UIUCIn Mechanical Engineering invented
the Low Drag Ducted Ram
Air Turbine Generator in 1999
and started a company to develop
prototypes to demonstrate potential
use on Naval Aircraft including the
planned EA- G Electronic Jammer.
Funding included over $ 1,500,000
from the US Navy. Ghetzler was
selected by Boeing to team with
them on the EA--G 18 development
contract which would have involved
$ 20 million to Ghetzler. Boeing
was very capable of evaluating
the validity of the invention.
Boeing lost the competition to
Raytheon. All investors signed
on with documents indicating
that they fully understood that they
could lose all of their investment
in this high tech venture.
