Bass and family came to Lumberton, Mississippi in 1899. Shortly thereafter, he planted his first pecan trees that soon developed into the largest pecan nursery in North America, and made Bass one of the largest pecan distributors. In 1909, the first catalog was distributed by the I.E. Bass and Sons Pecan Company and Bass Pecan Company has since become a specialist retailer of quality pecan trees and pecan products, with its main office and warehouse in Madison, Mississippi and three retail locations: Natchez, MS, Madison, MS and the original Lumberton location.
