We visited my distance relatives in Poland often, though, so even though they lived far away, our family was very close. Just a few years ago, my aunt (mother's sister) became ill and, since she was single with no children, didn't have anyone to help her around the house. My mother then became dedicated to helping her emigrate into the United States, so she could live with us.
